Motorised blinds make life easier, but choosing the right remote can be just as important as selecting the blinds themselves. Automate offers four options in Automate Push Handheld Remotes range, each designed for different levels of control and convenience. In this blog, we’ll break down the key differences, where to use them, and why they might be the best fit for you.
1. Automate Paradigm 1-Channel Remote
Best for: Controlling a single blind or group of blinds
I suggest this remote to my customers usually as an additional remote for bedrooms/offices.
Where to Use: Ideal for small rooms, single window coverings, or areas where all blinds should operate together.
Why Choose It?
Simple & Effective: Perfect for users who don’t need complex control options.
Minimalist Design: A sleek, easy-to-use remote with basic up, down, and stop functions.
Great for Starter Users: If you only have one motorised blind or want to keep things simple, this is the perfect entry-level choice.
2. Automate Paradigm 5-Channel Remote
Best for: Controlling multiple blinds individually or in groups
This remote I find a little harder to use as it may be a little confusing at first because there is no LCD screen. If you require a multi-channel remote, I highly recommend the 15-channel or Push Pro.
Where to Use: Great for living rooms, bedrooms, or offices with multiple blinds that need independent control.
Why Choose It?
Flexible Control: Operate up to five blinds or groups independently.
Customisation: Assign different blinds to different channels for better organisation.
Perfect for Mid-Sized Homes: If you have multiple motorised blinds in different rooms or need to control them separately, this is a great choice.
3. Automate Paradigm 15-Channel Remote
Best for: Larger homes with multiple rooms of motorised blinds
This remote has an LCD screen that displays numbers for channels. If you don’t need all 15 channels, you can hide unused ones, so only the necessary numbers appear. It also has five grouping channels (A to E), and zero is used for all blinds.
Where to Use: Ideal for large homes, commercial spaces, or places with extensive motorised blinds that require seamless control.
Why Choose It?
Advanced Control: Manage up to 15 blinds or groups of blinds individually.
Perfect for Whole-Home Automation: Great for homes with extensive motorised window coverings.
All-in-One Solution: Instead of juggling multiple remotes, you can manage your entire home’s blinds from a single device.
4. Automate Push Pro Remote
Best for: Advanced users seeking customisable and automated shade control
This is my go-to remote. Although it is $100 more expensive, you definitely get what you pay for. Firstly, you can name your blinds instead of using numbers, so when you want to control the kitchen, you can simply flick up and down to the blind titled "kitchen." It also has 30 channels, making it an excellent master remote. Additionally, it features 10 timers, which is a massive game-changer.
Before this remote, the only way to use timers was by purchasing the Automate Pulse 2 Hub and using the app provided with the hub. However, this remote allows 10 timers, meaning you can use your blinds to protect furniture and floor coverings by setting a timer when the sun is beating down on your $15k floor or $5k sofa. Adding timers to motorised curtains and blinds allows you to sit back and let the shades work on autopilot, increasing their usability significantly.

Where to Use: Perfect for those who need advanced control over multiple blinds with custom settings and automation.
Why Choose It?
Controls up to 30 blinds or groups for full-home integration.
2.4” LCD with backlit display and optional dark mode for ease of use.
Customisable timers for automated shade operation, even without Wi-Fi.
Personalised shade and group naming for simplified navigation.
Guided on-screen setup for effortless configuration.
Rechargeable battery via USB-C, lasting up to 6 months per charge.
Which Remote Should You Choose?
For a single blind or simple control → Go with the 1-Channel Remote.
For multiple blinds with separate control → The 5-Channel Remote is the best fit.
For managing blinds across different rooms → The 15-Channel Remote is ideal.
For advanced control & automation → Choose the Push Pro Remote.
Final Recommendation for Automate Push Handheld Remotes
In conclusion, I recommend the Push Pro, even if you only have one blind, just for the timers. If you have multiple shades, I would recommend having at least one Push Pro as a master remote, and then a 1-channel or 15-channel remote in other rooms depending on the number of shades and intended function. If you want the ultimate experience, place a Push Pro everywhere and they will all serve as master remotes.
